Lead 3D Environment Artist - MO.CO

The primary responsibility of your character (Lead 3D Environment Artist) will be guiding and mentoring the team of environment artists, channeling their efforts toward crafting top-tier game environments and gameplay experiences. 

Your adventure involves defining our game worlds' aesthetic landscape, actively contributing to creating new content and ensuring a smooth implementation. 

As a self-directed leader, you'll take full ownership of your work, fostering a collaborative and positive team atmosphere and leveraging your expertise to collaborate effectively with diverse teams comprising artists, designers, engineers, and producers.

Responsibilities

  • Support the professional and artistic development of a team of environment artists.
  • Facilitate high volume asset production, from concept to implementation, using external artists.
  • Collaborate with other artists, game designers and engineers to develop worlds that meet the game’s requirements.
  • Work on the full environment production pipeline.
  • Create and implement in-game ready, real-time 3D environment assets that are optimized for performance.
  • Cooperate with outsourcing partners to plan, design, and produce new content.
  • Support the development of visual concepts and ideas, ability to take an idea and develop it into its full potential.
  • Support the game development process from inception through launch and into live operations.
  • Actively push for improvements, and make the game the best it can be.
  • Adapt and work with an existing visual style, and build upon it.
  • Create beautiful, engaging game assets and environments.
  • Document and improve processes to help scale up art production.
  • Participate in playtesting and art reviews, and contribute to iteration and feedback that will make the game better.

 

Requirements

  • Experience leading a team of artists
  • Experience with 3D software (eg. Maya, 3DS Max, etc.)
  • Experience constructing and managing full 3D environments in a relevant game engine
  • Ability to create production quality stylized 3D game assets and textures.
  • Previous experience in game development and making game art with low supervision.
  • Ability to create a variety of production quality work outside of environment art.
  • Pride and responsibility in your work when given the freedom to work independently.
  • Be open-minded and respectful when receiving feedback from the team, and demonstrate the ability to implement and iterate according to project needs.

 

Nice to Have

  • Passion and experience working on action RPG games.
  • Ability to bridge communication between environment art, other artists, and game designers; Working closely with programmers, community and everyone else on a tightly knit game team.
  • Ability to contribute additional skills in areas such as level design, lighting, tech art, and tool development.
