Graphic Designer


The D. E. Shaw group seeks a talented graphic designer who is creative, resourceful, and detail-oriented to join our Design & Experience team. What you’ll do day-to-day


In this role, you’ll work on a wide range of projects and media and be responsible for conceptualizing, strategizing, and producing highly creative digital and print deliverables to support firmwide branding, marketing, and recruiting efforts. Projects include sales and recruitment material, core brand assets, document templates, presentations and data visuals, and website graphics. You’ll also be responsible for managing and helping organize digital assets. This role will provide the opportunity to collaborate with groups across the firm, develop creative solutions, and contribute to enhancing the firm’s brand.


Who we’re looking for


  • A bachelor’s degree in graphic design or an equivalent field is required, as are five years of professional experience in visual design or a related field. Applicants should have a portfolio demonstrating a range of design techniques and skills, a solid background in typography, and an appreciation for a clean and impactful aesthetic.

  • The ability to take initiative and be curious is crucial for this role. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a knack for project management, demonstrated technical prowess, impressive design sensibilities, and a rigorous and proactive work ethic are also essential.

  • Highly organized individuals with keen attention to detail and the ability to advance multiple projects with varying deadlines simultaneously, who can work in a collaborative collegial team environment, will excel in this role.

  • We seek candidates who are fluent in both Mac and PC environments and proficient in both the Adobe Creative (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suites, with particular expertise with Excel charts, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with UX/UI and data visualization skills are a plus.

  • The expected annual base salary for this position is $100,000 to $115,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401k contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
