Principal Product Design Manager

Overview:

We are looking for Design Manager with strong product leadership, design research, and people management skills to join our expanding team. The ideal candidate has experience in working with senior stakeholders and customers, gaining consensus and driving outcomes; as well as experience in guiding teams to deliver. This role will be working with customers and teams who are using AI technologies to fuel product experiences, so awareness of AI capabilities, and being strongly versed in responsible AI is necessary. If you are a creative and visionary design leader with a passion for shaping the future of AI, we invite you to join our dynamic team.  

You will solid business acumen and proven experience in breaking down complex problem spaces across the varied industries we work in. You will be a key influencer in leading your team to deliver  successful customer solutions. We value Design because we know it gives us a holistic view of how business goals, and human experiences are affected by interactions between data, algorithms, context, logic and interfaces.  

Qualifications:

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working in product or service design
  • Demonstrated people management experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience shipping games or products and/or delivering to customers as a result of an end-to-end design process.
  • People management experience.
  • Responsible AI knowledge

  • Experience in design leadership roles, with a focus on AI and related technologies.

  • Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality design solutions for complex products. 

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams. 

  • Familiarity with Microsoft's AI technologies and a passion for advancing AI technologies.

Responsibilities:

As a Design Manager, you will have the following responsibilities: 

Design Leadership:

  • Lead and inspire a team of talented designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture.  
  • Support the team toward delivering customer visions and solutions, ensuring alignment with customer goals. 

Customer Strategy:

  • Contribute to the development and refinement of strategies and approaches that are in service of producing exceptional outcomes for customers. 
  • Define and communicate Design workstreams to both customers and project collaborators.  

Human-Centric Design:

  • Champion human-centered design principles, conducting user research to gain insights and validate design decisions. 
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to create intuitive, user-friendly experience that elevate the overall user experience.  

 Cross-Functional Collaboration :

  • Collaborate across and align with data science, engineering and program management disciplines to enhance the overall customer experience.  
  • Actively participate in agile development processes, providing design leadership throughout the product lifecycle.  

Innovation and Continuous Improvement :

  • Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the design team. 
  • Stay informed about industry best practices, design trends, and emerging technologies, integrating relevant insights into the product design process.
