Sr. Designer (Star Wars Jedi)

We are a global team of creators, storytellers, technologists, experience originators, innovators and so much more. We believe amazing games and experiences start with teams as diverse as the players and communities we serve. At Electronic Arts, the only limit is your imagination.

Founded in 2010 by the original creators of the Call of Duty Franchise, Respawn was created with the philosophy that when talented people have creative freedom, they’ll make extraordinary games that achieve the unexpected. From our roots as an indie studio to joining the expansive roster of studios at Electronic Arts, this remains our guiding principle. We truly love what we do and want to share our passion with players worldwide.

Our shipped titles include critically acclaimed multi-platform games Apex Legends, Titanfall, Titanfall 2, Star Wars™ Jedi: Fallen Order,  Star Wars™ Jedi: Survivor, and Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond.

Join us for the opportunity to create groundbreaking games with some of the best developer talent in the industry.

We’re looking for a highly-skilled Senior Level Designer to join our Star Wars Jedi team. You will create interesting and fun levels that make full use of our mechanics, engaging players to surprise and delight them. We’re picturing someone who lives and breathes level design, and is passionate about crafting experiences and clever layouts.

What you'll do...

  • Reporting to the Lead Level Designer, you will partner with departments such as Environment Art, Narrative, and Combat Design to deliver level designs that epitomize the creative vision of the game.
  • Create and pitch levels.
  • Establish and enforce design practices, constraints, and metrics throughout projects.
  • Advocate for the department’s goals, needs, and desires. Help remove roadblocks, raise red flags.
  • Set a high-quality bar through hands-on creation and ownership of level designs from conception to the final stages of polish, facilitating communication and coordinating departments to ensure the vision is understood.
  • Proactively self-critique and accept outside critique. The more feedback you receive, the more you can tailor your work towards what is best for the game.
  • Identify and handle issues before they arise.

Ideally, you will have…

  • 5+ years’  experience in the games industry working in a level design capacity, shipping at least one title. Experience that includes a shipped AAA game(s) is ideal.
  • Deep practical knowledge of the level design process including level flow, engagement, structure, pacing, environmental storytelling, testing, etc.
  • Experience working with a game engine (we use Unreal, but any modern 3D engine is good), using scripting tools to orchestrate events, and implementing 3D work into the pipeline.
  • Experience in rapid prototyping to test feasibility of concepts.
  • Examples of your level design work which demonstrate your design ideas, experience, and process.
  • A team-oriented approach to your work, understanding the importance of collaboration, and partnering effectively with all departments.

Please provide a portfolio that shows level design sensibilities.

In addition to opportunities for creative impact and professional growth which come with being a member of our team, working at Respawn has many other perks and benefits!
