Character FX Artist

Reports to: Digital Artist Manager Status: Non-Exempt

 

Classification: Full Time, Project-based

 

Purpose of the job:

 

The Character FX artist will be expected to learn the proprietary tools/pipeline of DD and the Character FX department, in order to run simulations on hair, cloth, skin and muscle for feature films, TV, commercials, games, VR/AR and New Media.

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

 

• Work under the direction of a lead or lead/supervisor combination, in order to deliver Character FX on shots according to schedule.

 

Education and/or Experience Required:

 

● Experience running simulations on hair and cloth. ● Experience in Houdini desired and prioritized - specifically Vellum ● Experience with muscle animation/simulation is a plus. ● Experience in Character rigging or Character FX rigging is a plus. ● Experience with scripting languages is a plus. ● Experience with grooming is a plus.

 

Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands: • Full time remote and/or an office working environment. • Hours for this position are based on normal working hours but may require extra hours pending production needs.

 

• Walking/bending/sitting.

Compensation Range: $25.00 per hour to $65.00 per hour. The posted range describes the minimum to maximum range for this job description in the state of California and the provinces of British Columbia and Quebec. The range is posted in accordance with applicable law. The range for this same position may be lower or higher in markets outside of California or the provinces of British Columbia and Quebec. Offered base pay is contingent on internal equity, as well as the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other factors.
