The Interior Design family is responsible for the design of interior spaces in our theme parks, primarily restaurants, retail, theaters, and attraction queue lines. They are also responsible for our hotels and cruise ships' design or design oversight.

You will lead the day-to-day management of the Interior Design Department which includes project assignments/resource planning, career development, reviews, and soft cost budgets.

This is a full-time position and reports to the Executive Interior Design.

 

What You Will Do

  • Analyze and recommend new technology to be incorporated into the Interior Design practice.

  • Develop, review, and approve scopes of work and interior design estimates and determine global design strategies.

  • Monitor progress and earned value on all projects and ensure that technical quality, interdisciplinary coordination, and production requirements (budgets and schedule) are being met.

  • Regularly update the department resource plan and make appropriate staffing decisions to meet the department and division financial objectives.

  • Represent Interior Design to the WDI organization.

  • Manage all of the department's resources and provide administrative direction to in-house Interior Designers and outside consultants in the production of construction documents as appropriate.

  • Mentor and develop team.

  • Manage performance reviews to include objective setting and performance management.

  • Lead a large team of interior Designer Principals (Portfolio Leads) on multiple projects, to ensure consistency in our practice.

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Extensive interior design experience preferably in hospitality, restaurant, retail, etc.

  • Demonstrated thoughtful design, artistic skills, and professional judgment in problem-solving.

  • Proficient in CADD or REVIT.

  • Strong business management skills in department budgeting, resource planning, and earned value analysis.

  • Maintain and ensure compliance with departmental standards, procedures, and specifications.

  • Collaborative with strong communication skills to interface and manage relationships with Resort partners, Portfolio leaders, and WDI management.

  • Convey and instruct team members in the creation of authentic and immersive Disney Interiors through WDI practice of Interior Design.

 

Education

  • 4-year degree from an accredited interior design program.

  • Licensed or certificate based on international region or US State.
